When the Nissan Frontier display shows the front camera view and the steering wheel is turned up to approximately 90 degrees from the straight-ahead position, both the left and right predicted course lines 6 are visible to help guide the vehicle.

When the steering angle exceeds roughly 90 degrees, only the predicted course line on the opposite side of the turn will remain visible, providing a clearer indication of the intended path of the Nissan Frontier.

Bird's-eye view

Additionally, the corners of the non-visible areas are marked in red and will flash for the first few seconds 3, reminding the driver to exercise caution when maneuvering the Nissan Frontier.

  • Tall objects such as curbs, walls, or nearby vehicles may appear misaligned or may not display correctly at the seam between camera views.
  • Objects positioned above the camera field of view cannot be displayed by the system.

  • Lines on the ground may appear bent or offset where camera images merge, and this distortion may increase with distance from the Nissan Frontier.

The Moving Object Detection system in the Nissan Frontier functions under the following conditions when camera views are active:

If the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system is active and emitting a warning chime, the MOD system will temporarily suppress its own audible alert.

In bird’s-eye view mode, a yellow frame 1 will appear around the specific camera feed (front, rear, left, or right) where movement is detected around the Nissan Frontier.

The A/C system will continue operating until the Nissan Frontier fan control off position dial is turned OFF, the system is manually disabled, or the engine is switched off.

Even if A/C was previously turned off, selecting a defrost mode such as Nissan Frontier front defrost mode icon will automatically re-enable the compressor to ensure proper defogging performance.

In Nissan Frontier defrost mode icon front defrost or Nissan Frontier foot defrost mode icon foot/defrost mode, the A/C indicator light may remain off even though the compressor is running.

Manual A/C deactivation is not available in this mode. Even if the indicator turns off, the Nissan Frontier system continues operating the compressor to maximize defogging efficiency.

This process removes moisture from the air, helping clear the windshield faster. The Nissan Frontier fresh air mode for defogging mode automatically switches to fresh air intake to further enhance visibility.

When the engine is temporarily stopped by the Idling Stop System, activating the front defroster in the Nissan Frontier will automatically restart the engine to maintain visibility and safety.

While the engine is running, engaging either the front defroster or the outside mirror defroster will prevent the Idling Stop System from shutting the engine off, ensuring continuous operation of essential climate functions.

If the interior temperature of the Nissan Frontier exceeds approximately 86 ºF (30 ºC), the Idling Stop System will be temporarily disabled to prioritize cooling performance. However, if the air conditioning is turned off, normal Idling Stop operation may resume.

  • Avoid setting the temperature lower than the outside ambient temperature, as this may reduce system efficiency and performance.
  • This mode is not recommended if the windows begin to fog, as additional dehumidification may be required.

Dehumidified defrosting or defogging

1. Press the Nissan Frontier front defroster activation button defroster control button to activate the system. The indicator light will illuminate, confirming operation.

2. The Nissan Frontier system will automatically increase the blower to approximately speed level 5 to enhance defogging performance.

Fan speed can be manually adjusted using the fan control buttons. For faster and more aggressive defogging, increase the airflow using the Nissan Frontier fan speed increase control button control to levels 6 or 7.

During this mode, the Nissan Frontier may automatically activate the air conditioning system to remove moisture from the air, ensuring improved visibility and safer driving conditions.

For best results, it is recommended to allow fresh air intake during defrosting, as this helps prevent window fogging and maintains clear glass surfaces.

3. Rotate the temperature control dial in your Nissan Frontier to the left or right until the desired cabin temperature is reached, ensuring a comfortable driving environment in all weather conditions.

  • To rapidly clear ice or frost from the exterior of the windows in the Nissan Frontier, press the Nissan Frontier fan speed control button maximum settingfan speed control button and set it to the maximum level. This significantly increases airflow and accelerates defrosting performance.

Remote Engine Start with Intelligent Climate Control (if so equipped)

Vehicles equipped with automatic climate control and Remote Engine Start in the Nissan Frontier may automatically activate heating or cooling functions based on both outside temperature and cabin conditions.

Manual operation

Fan speed control

To restore automatic fan regulation, simply press the AUTO button and the Nissan Frontier climate system will resume intelligent control of airflow.

When switching from AUTO to manual fan adjustment, the airflow direction (such as floor, vent, bi-level, or defrost) may still change automatically. To lock the airflow direction in a fixed position, press the MODE button and select the desired outlet manually.

Temperature control dial

Fresh air intake

Automatic intake air control

In AUTO mode, the Nissan Frontier automatically manages the intake air source, switching between fresh air and recirculated air depending on environmental conditions and temperature.

If the Nissan Frontier fresh air indicator icon fresh air indicator is illuminated, press and hold the Nissan Frontier fresh air intake button hold function fresh air intake button for approximately 2 seconds. The indicators will flash twice, confirming automatic mode activation.

If the Nissan Frontier air recirculation indicator icon air recirculation icon is active, press and hold either the Nissan Frontier air recirculation button hold function air recirculation button or the AUTO button for about 2 seconds. Both Nissan Frontier recirculation indicator flashing air recirculation and Nissan Frontier fresh air indicator flashing fresh air intake indicators will flash, confirming automatic intake control.

When OFF mode is selected, the intake door defaults to recirculation. To allow fresh air while OFF, press the Nissan Frontier fresh air intake override button fresh air intake button.

The airflow MODE can still be adjusted in OFF mode, provided intake is set to Nissan Frontier fresh airflow mode icon fresh air.

A/C (air conditioner) button

Start the engine, adjust the Nissan Frontier fan speed control buttons fan speed control buttons to the desired level, and press the Nissan Frontier AC activation button button to activate the air conditioner in the Nissan Frontier.

To turn off the system, press the Nissan Frontier AC off button button again.

  • Keep all windows closed when using the air conditioning system in the Nissan Frontier to maximize efficiency.
  • If the airflow does not match the selected mode, press the Nissan Frontier airflow reset mode button mode button to reselect the desired configuration.
  • Short bursts of airflow from foot outlets may occur when changing modes — this is normal system operation.
  • When the ignition is switched ON, the system may briefly direct airflow to the foot outlets for several seconds to purge residual hot air from the Nissan Frontier HVAC system.
