WARNING

• The air conditioning system in the Nissan Frontier operates only when the engine is running. Ensure the engine is on for proper cooling performance.
• Never leave children, vulnerable adults, or pets unattended inside the Nissan Frontier.

  They may accidentally operate vehicle controls or be exposed to dangerously high temperatures inside the cabin, especially on hot days, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

• Avoid using air recirculation mode for extended periods, as it may cause the cabin air to become stale and lead to window fogging, reducing visibility.

NOTE:

• Odors from both inside and outside the Nissan Frontier may accumulate within the air conditioning system and enter the cabin through the vents.
• To minimize odors, it is recommended to disable air recirculation mode before parking the Nissan Frontier, allowing fresh air to circulate through the system.

Regular use and proper ventilation will help maintain a comfortable and fresh interior environment in the Nissan Frontier.

Controls

Basic Information

The manual climate control system in the Nissan Frontier is designed for intuitive operation, allowing the driver to precisely adjust airflow, temperature, and ventilation modes to maintain optimal cabin comfort in all driving conditions.

Fan speed control dial

The fan speed control dial in the Nissan Frontier allows you to activate the ventilation system and adjust airflow intensity according to your preference. Increasing the fan speed improves airflow circulation and enhances cooling or heating efficiency.

Fan speed control dial - OFF mode

When the dial is set to the OFF position, the system fan stops operating and the air recirculation indicator will illuminate automatically.

To introduce fresh air into the Nissan Frontier cabin while in OFF mode, press the air recirculation button to deactivate recirculation mode. In this condition, airflow direction can still be adjusted using the mode buttons.

Air flow control buttons

The airflow buttons in the Nissan Frontier allow you to direct air to specific areas of the cabin, ensuring personalized comfort for both driver and passengers.

MAX A/C - Provides maximum cooling performance by directing high-volume cold air through the center and side vents.

- Air is directed through the center and side vents.

- Air flows through both upper vents and foot outlets.

- Air is primarily directed to the foot area with partial side vent airflow.

- Air is distributed between defroster and foot outlets.

- Air is mainly directed to the windshield defroster outlets.

Temperature control dial

The temperature control dial in the Nissan Frontier enables precise adjustment of cabin temperature. Rotate the dial to the left for cooler air or to the right for warmer air, depending on comfort requirements and weather conditions.

Air recirculation button

ON position (Indicator light on)

When activated, the Nissan Frontier recirculates interior air within the cabin, helping maintain temperature and reduce the intake of outside pollutants.

Use the button in the following situations:

• Driving in dusty or polluted environments.
• Preventing outside fumes from entering the Nissan Frontier cabin.
• Achieving maximum cooling performance with the air conditioning system.

When the outside temperature exceeds approximately 70ºF (21ºC), the Nissan Frontier system may automatically activate recirculation mode to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

To return to fresh air intake mode, simply press the recirculation button again.

OFF position (Indicator light off)

When fresh air intake is required, press the recirculation button until the indicator turns off. This allows outside air to enter the Nissan Frontier cabin.

If window fogging occurs, activate the front windshield defrost function to restore visibility.

A/C (air conditioner) button

To operate the air conditioning system in the Nissan Frontier:

Start the engine, adjust the fan speed to the desired level, and press the A/C button.

To deactivate the system, press the button again.

Heater operation

Heating

This mode directs warm air primarily to the lower part of the cabin, improving comfort during colder conditions while also supplying some airflow to the windshield for defogging.

1. Press the button to switch off air conditioning.

The indicator on the button will turn off.

2. Select the appropriate airflow mode using the control button.

3. Adjust the fan speed using the dial.

4. Set the desired temperature between medium and maximum heat.

Ventilation

This mode allows fresh outside air to circulate through the Nissan Frontier cabin via the side and center vents, providing natural airflow without active cooling.

1. Press the button to deactivate air conditioning.

The indicator on the button will turn off.

2. Select airflow direction using the button.

3. Adjust airflow intensity using the fan speed dial.

This setup ensures continuous airflow and improved comfort when driving the Nissan Frontier in moderate weather conditions.

5. Adjust the temperature control dial in your Nissan Frontier to a position between medium and cool to achieve a comfortable cabin climate, especially during warm weather conditions.

• For rapid cooling inside the Nissan Frontier when outside temperatures are high, press the button to activate recirculation mode. This allows the system to reuse cooled air for faster temperature reduction. Be sure to return the to the OFF position after initial cooling to maintain fresh airflow.
• The indicator light on the button will switch off once normal operation resumes. For maximum cooling performance, you can also enable the MAX A/C mode available in the Nissan Frontier.

Dehumidified heating

This mode in the Nissan Frontier is designed to simultaneously warm the cabin while removing excess moisture from the air, improving comfort and visibility.

1. Press the button to switch off standard air conditioning.

The indicator light on the button will turn off.

2. Select the desired airflow direction using the air flow control button.

3. Adjust airflow intensity with the fan speed control dial.

4. Press the button to activate air conditioning support for dehumidification.

5. Set the temperature dial in your Nissan Frontier to the preferred level for a warm and comfortable interior.

Dehumidified defogging

This Nissan Frontier mode efficiently clears condensation from windows while reducing humidity inside the cabin for improved visibility.

1. Press the front defroster button.

2. Adjust the airflow using the fan speed control dial.

When the or positions are selected, the Nissan Frontier automatically activates the air conditioning compressor to remove moisture.

The A/C system will continue operating until the dial is turned OFF, the system is manually disabled, or the engine is switched off.

Even if A/C was previously turned off, selecting a defrost mode such as will automatically re-enable the compressor to ensure proper defogging performance.

In front defrost or foot/defrost mode, the A/C indicator light may remain off even though the compressor is running.

Manual A/C deactivation is not available in this mode. Even if the indicator turns off, the Nissan Frontier system continues operating the compressor to maximize defogging efficiency.

This process removes moisture from the air, helping clear the windshield faster. The mode automatically switches to fresh air intake to further enhance visibility.

3. Adjust the temperature control dial to your desired comfort level.

Operating tips

• Keep all windows closed while using the air conditioning system in your Nissan Frontier to maintain efficiency.
• After parking under direct sunlight, drive for several minutes with windows open to release trapped hot air.

  Then close the windows so the Nissan Frontier air conditioning system can cool the cabin more quickly and effectively.

• Operate the air conditioning system for at least 10 minutes once a month to maintain proper lubrication and prevent internal damage.
• A light mist from the vents may appear in hot and humid conditions. This is normal and indicates rapid cooling.
• If the engine coolant temperature rises above normal, turn off the air conditioner to reduce engine load and prevent overheating.

The air recirculation ( ) button should always remain OFF when using heating or defrosting modes to ensure fresh air intake.
