Power moonroof

Basic Information

The power moonroof in the Nissan Frontier is designed to enhance cabin comfort by allowing fresh air and natural light into the vehicle interior. It operates only when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

Even after switching the ignition to ACC or OFF, the Nissan Frontier moonroof remains functional for approximately 45 seconds. However, if either the driver's or front passenger's door is opened during this time, the system will immediately deactivate for safety and energy conservation.

Sliding the moonroof

To open the moonroof in the Nissan Frontier, push the switch toward DOWN/OPEN 1 and release it. For a fully open position, press the switch again.

To completely close the moonroof, push the switch toward UP/CLOSE 2 and release it. You can also stop the movement at any intermediate position by pressing the switch again while the glass panel is moving.

This flexible control allows Nissan Frontier drivers to precisely adjust ventilation and airflow according to driving conditions.

Tilting the moonroof

Ensure the moonroof is fully closed, then press the UP/CLOSE switch 2 again to tilt it upward. This tilt function is useful for additional ventilation without fully opening the panel.

To return the moonroof to the closed position, press the switch toward DOWN/OPEN 1.

Auto-reverse function (when closing or tilting down the moonroof)

Basic Information

The Nissan Frontier is equipped with an advanced auto-reverse safety system for the moonroof. This feature is active when the ignition is ON or shortly after it is turned OFF.

Depending on environmental conditions or vehicle movement, the system may interpret certain impacts or resistance as an obstruction and activate the auto-reverse function.

WARNING

There are small zones near the fully closed position that may not detect obstructions. Always ensure that all passengers keep their hands, fingers, and objects away from the moonroof opening before closing it in the Nissan Frontier.

When closing

If an obstruction is detected while the moonroof is closing, the system will automatically reverse direction and open the panel to prevent injury.

When tilting down

If resistance is detected during the tilt-down operation, the moonroof will immediately tilt upward again.

If the auto-reverse function repeatedly activates due to a malfunction, press and hold the tilt-down switch within 5 seconds after activation. The Nissan Frontier moonroof will then close gradually. Always verify that no objects are trapped before attempting this procedure.

WARNING

• In the event of a collision, occupants may be ejected through an open moonroof. Always use seat belts and ensure all passengers are properly restrained in the Nissan Frontier.
• Never allow anyone to stand, lean, or extend any part of their body through the moonroof opening while the vehicle is moving or while the moonroof is operating.

CAUTION

• Before operating the moonroof in the Nissan Frontier, remove any water, snow, ice, or debris from the glass surface to prevent damage or malfunction.
• Do not place heavy or sharp objects on or around the moonroof, as this may damage the mechanism or glass panel.

Sunshade

The Nissan Frontier moonroof includes a manually adjustable sunshade. Slide it forward or backward to control sunlight and cabin brightness according to your preference.

If the moonroof does not close

If the moonroof fails to close properly, it is recommended to have the Nissan Frontier inspected by an authorized service center. Professional diagnosis ensures proper operation and prevents further damage to the system.
