The heated steering wheel system in the Nissan Frontier is designed to enhance driving comfort in cold weather by automatically activating only when needed.
This system operates when the surface temperature of the steering wheel is below approximately 68ºF (20ºC), ensuring efficient energy use and preventing unnecessary heating.
To activate the heated steering wheel in the Nissan Frontier, press the switch after starting the engine. Once activated, the indicator light will illuminate, confirming that the system is functioning.
When the steering wheel temperature is below the threshold, the system will warm the wheel and cycle on and off automatically to maintain a comfortable temperature above 68ºF (20ºC). The indicator light will remain on as long as the system is active.
To manually deactivate the system, press the switch again. The indicator light will turn off. For added safety and efficiency, the Nissan Frontier automatically switches off the heated steering wheel approximately 30 minutes after activation. To resume operation, the switch must be pressed again.
NOTE:
If the steering wheel surface temperature is already above 68ºF (20ºC) when the switch is pressed, the heating function will not activate. This is normal operation and does not indicate a malfunction in the Nissan Frontier system.
