Removing and installing front three-point seat belt [NX10]/[NX11]

Removing and installing front three-point seat belt [NX10]/[NX11]

Front left seat belt -NX10- and front right seat belt -NX11- are referred to hereafter as three-point seat belt.

Removing

– Disconnect battery earth cable → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery.

– Remove front belt guide → Rep. gr.69; Removing and installing front belt guide.

– Remove front belt end fitting → Rep. gr.69; Removing and installing front belt end fitting.

– Unscrew bolt -1-.

– Remove belt guide fitting -2- with belt webbing.


Basic version

CAUTION

It is possible to trigger pyrotechnic components unintentionally.

Risk of injury

– Discharge static electricity by briefly touching door striker plate.

– Disconnect electrical connector -1-.

– Unscrew bolt -arrow-.

– Remove front three-point seat belt -2-.


All vehicles (continued)

Electrically reversible version

CAUTION

It is possible to trigger pyrotechnic components unintentionally.

Risk of injury

– Discharge static electricity by briefly touching door striker plate.

– Disconnect electrical connectors -1- and -2-.

– Remove spreader rivet -upper arrow-.

– Unscrew bolt -lower arrow-.

– Remove front three-point seat belt -3-.


All vehicles (continued)

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

If parts of the belt system are removed because of an accident:

– Renew all bolts of belt system → Rep. gr.69; Assembly overview - front three-point seat belt.

All vehicles (continued)

– Insert front seat belt with anti-twist protection -1- in direction of -arrow- into mounting and tighten bolt.


Electrical connector must engage audibly.

– Connect electrical connector.

Continued

– Connect battery earth cable → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery.

CAUTION

Pyrotechnic components can trigger unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

– Keep far away from pyrotechnic components when switching on ignition.

– Switch on ignition.

In event of renewal of front three-point automatic seat belt, electrically reversible version:

– Carry out function “Adapt” using → Vehicle diagnostic tester → Rep. gr.00; Access to diagnoses.

Removing and installing rear outer three-point seat belt

Removing and installing rear outer three-point seat belt

Rear three-point seat belt with rear belt tensioner igniter on driver side -N196- or rear belt tensioner igniter on passenger side -N197- is referred to hereafter as rear three-point seat belt.

Removal and installation are described for left side of vehicle as an example.

Removing

– Remove C-pillar trim → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing C-pillar trim.

– Remove rear outer belt end fitting → Rep. gr.69; Removing and installing rear outer belt end fitting.

– Disconnect battery earth cable → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery.

– Unscrew bolt -4-.

– Detach rear outer three-point seat belt -2- in direction of -arrow- from mounting bracket -1-.

CAUTION

It is possible to trigger pyrotechnic components unintentionally.

Risk of injury

– Discharge static electricity by briefly touching door striker plate.

– Disconnect electrical connector -3-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

If parts of the belt system are removed because of an accident:

– Renew all bolts of belt system → Rep. gr.69; Assembly overview - rear outer three-point seat belt.

All vehicles (continued)

Connect electrical connectors until they engage audibly.

– Fit electrical connectors.

– Stay as far back as possible from pyrotechnic components when switching on the ignition.

– Switch on ignition.

Tightening torques

Removing and installing rear centre three-point seat belt

Removing and installing rear centre three-point seat belt

Removing

– Remove bench seat → Rep. gr.72; Removing and installing bench seat/individual seats.

– Remove rear right belt buckle → Rep. gr.69; Removing and installing rear belt buckle.

– Remove cover and padding of rear seat backrest → Rep. gr.74; Removing and installing cover and padding of rear seat backrest.

– Unscrew nut -1-.

– Detach rear centre three-point seat belt -2-, and remove it.

– Guide out belt webbing -3-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Insert rear centre three-point seat belt ensuring that anti-twist protection engages in mounting, and tighten nut.

Removing and installing rear right belt buckle

Removing and installing rear right belt buckle

Rear right belt buckle with belt switch for seat row 2, driver side -F390- or belt switch for seat row 2, passenger side -F392- is referred to hereafter as rear right belt buckle.

Removing

– Remove bench seat → Rep. gr.72; Removing and installing bench seat/individual seats.

– Disconnect electrical connector -3-, and move it aside.

– Unscrew bolt -1-.

– Remove rear right belt buckle -2-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Removing

– Push cover and padding downwards in area of rear belt guide -1-.

– Using a screwdriver, release locking devices -arrows-.

– Unclip rear belt guide -1- upwards.

– Guide out belt webbing -3- through opening -4-, and detach rear belt guide -1- from rear seat backrest -2-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing

– Remove upper B-pillar trim → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing upper B-pillar trim.

– Remove lower B-pillar trim → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing lower B-pillar trim.

– Press together front belt guide -1- in direction of -arrow A-.

– At the same time, pull out front belt guide -1- in direction of -arrow B-.

– With bars pressed together -arrows A-, pull out front belt guide -1- in direction of -arrow C-.

– Guide out belt webbing, and remove front belt guide -1-.


Installing

Install in reverse sequence of removal.

Removing

Front belt end fitting with igniter for driver-side seat belt tensioner 2 -N297- or igniter for front passenger-side seat belt tensioner 2 -N298- will henceforth be referred to as “belt end fitting”.

– Disconnect battery earth cable → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery.

– Remove front sill panel moulding → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing front sill panel moulding.

– Remove upper B-pillar trim → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing upper B-pillar trim.

– Remove lower B-pillar trim → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing lower B-pillar trim.

– Remove front seat → Rep. gr.72; Removing and installing front seat.

– Push floor covering in area of front belt end fitting towards vehicle centre.

CAUTION

It is possible to trigger pyrotechnic components unintentionally.

Risk of injury

– Discharge static electricity by briefly touching door striker plate.

– Using a small screwdriver, release connector lock -2- in direction of -arrow-, and disconnect electrical connector -1-.


– Unscrew nut -2-.

– Position a screwdriver between clip -4- and body flange -3-.

– Press clip -4- downwards slightly, and detach front belt end fitting -1- inwards.


– Guide out front belt end fitting -2- through opening in upper B-pillar trim -1-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Connect electrical connectors until they engage audibly.

– Connect battery earth cable → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery.

CAUTION

It is possible to trigger pyrotechnic components unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

– Stay as far back as possible from pyrotechnic components when switching on the ignition.

– Switch on ignition.

Tightening torques

Removing and installing rear outer belt end fitting

Removing and installing rear outer belt end fitting

Removing

– Remove rear sill panel moulding → Rep. gr.70; Removing and installing rear sill panel moulding.

– Unscrew nut -1-.

– Detach rear outer belt end fitting -2-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Removing and installing front belt buckle

Removing and installing front belt buckle

The front belt buckle with driver side belt switch -E24- or front passenger side belt switch -E25- will henceforth be referred to as “front belt buckle”.

Removing

– Remove front seat → Rep. gr.72; Removing and installing front seat.

– Disconnect and move aside electrical connector -arrow-.

– Unscrew bolt -1-.

– Remove front belt buckle -2-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Position belt buckle in such a way that anti-twist protection engages in recess in seat frame.

Tightening torques

♦ → Rep. gr.69; Assembly overview – front belt buckle

Removing and installing rear centre belt buckle

Removing and installing rear centre belt buckle

Twin belt buckle -FX4- with belt switch for seat row 2, middle -F391- and belt switch for seat row 2, driver side -F390- or belt switch for seat row 2, passenger side -F392- is referred to hereafter as rear centre belt buckle.

Removing

– Remove bench seat → Rep. gr.72; Removing and installing bench seat/individual seats.

– Disconnect electrical connector -3-, and move it aside.

– Unscrew bolt -2-.

– Remove rear centre belt buckle -1-.


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
