Removing and installing high-voltage battery charging socket 1 [UX4]
The high-voltage battery charging socket 1 -UX4- will henceforth be referred to as “charging socket”.
Removing
DANGER
High voltage can cause fatal injury.
Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock or electric arcs.
– Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage expert (HVE) de-energise the high-voltage system.
CAUTION
The high-voltage battery can become extremely hot. This can cause injuries.
Take care not to burn your hands.
– Put on protective gloves.
– → Rep. gr.93; De-energise high-voltage system.
– Remove charging flap unit → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.55; Charging flap unit; Removing and installing charging flap unit.
– Remove rear right wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66; Wheel housing liner; Removing and installing rear wheel housing liner.
Important
● High-voltage wire -2- must be detached before disconnecting charging socket in wheel housing.
– Unclip clips -1- and -3- in area of wheel housing.
– Unscrew nut -4-.
– Remove soiling from electrical connectors using lint-free cleaning cloth and cleaning solution → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA).
– Disconnect electrical connector -1- at top.
– Disconnect electrical connectors -2- and -5-.
– Detach Bowden cable -3- from actuator for high-voltage charging socket lock 1 -F498- -4-.
– Lever off cover -6-.
– Release charging socket holder -1- in direction of -arrow-.
– Unscrew bolts -1-.
– Disconnect high-voltage cable.
– Unscrew bolts -3-.
– Detach charging socket -2- from holder -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock or electric arcs.
– Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage expert (HVE) re-energise the high-voltage system.
– → Rep. gr.93; Re-energise high-voltage system.
